additions. But Dr. Lande, however, was fortunate to unearth an unpublished Manuscript account attributed to Louis-Antoine de Bougainville being "The French
Royal Navy. Events during the naval wars since 1740". The first part deals
with the history of Frances Royal Navy during a period of almost continuous naval
warfare, from 1740 to the time preceding the French Revolution, comprising the loss of
Canada & Louisiana and the American Revolution. Second part deals with the décadence at the Court of France. 350 $

ouvert. Jaquette imprimée & boîtier dorigine. Une édition luxueuse sur grand
papier (blanked folio). Les éditeurs inscrivent "Ce livre est la reproduction en
fac-simile dun volume imprimé à Paris à la fin du XVIe siècle, dont il ne reste
plus que quelques exemplaires. Loriginal présentait, dans sa composition et dans
son tirage, de notables défectuosités que lon ne sétonnera pas de retrouver
intégralement reproduites ici. Au volume original, les éditeurs ont ajouté un portrait
gravé de René de Laudonnière, et deux cartes de lépoque qui précisent les
limites et létat de la Floride au moment de sa colonisation française. Elles
éclaireront utilement le texte; le lecteur observera que la Floride, telle que le
concevait lauteur, débordait très sensiblement les frontières de lactuel
État de Floride, pour empiéter largement sur ceux, plus septentrionaux, de Georgie et de
