Lancaster (Pennsylvania), William Greer, 1812. 225 p. First edition. Beautifully rebound in brown leather, with raised bands & gilding; some staining to title page and foxing throughout book (better than usual for American printing of that era). This is a vivid account of Benedict Arnold’s expedition (which Henry accompanied) to join Montgomery’s forces at Quebec. Often attacked by the Indians, suffering from severe weather conditions (cold & snow), overland travel difficulties, loosing half the force along the way, the expedition was unsuccessful! Very scarce & a nice copy of the best & most accurate account of the American attack against Quebec.  TPL 465; Lande 428; Sabin 31400.     750 $

Imprimé par les soins du Conseil Historique et Héraldique de France sur les Presses de Audin, tiré à 475 exemplaires sur Pur Fil Lafuma que l’on annonce numérotés sans qu’il en soit ainsi du présent exemplaire neuf, ni coupé, ni ouvert. Jaquette imprimée & boîtier d’origine. Une édition luxueuse sur grand papier (blanked folio). Les éditeurs inscrivent "Ce livre est la reproduction en fac-simile d’un volume imprimé à Paris à la fin du XVIe siècle, dont il ne reste plus que quelques exemplaires. L’original présentait, dans sa composition et dans son tirage, de notables défectuosités que l’on ne s’étonnera pas de retrouver intégralement reproduites ici. Au volume original, les éditeurs ont ajouté un portrait gravé de René de Laudonnière, et deux cartes de l’époque qui précisent les limites et l’état de la Floride au moment de sa colonisation française. Elles éclaireront utilement le texte; le lecteur observera que la Floride, telle que le concevait l’auteur, débordait très sensiblement les frontières de l’actuel État de Floride, pour empiéter largement sur ceux, plus septentrionaux, de Georgie et de Caroline".  Pièce extrêmement rare!!  La pagination est difficile mais on peut estimer 500 pages.    450 $
