bands & gilding; some staining to title page and foxing throughout book (better than
usual for American printing of that era). This is a vivid account of Benedict
Arnolds expedition (which Henry accompanied) to join Montgomerys forces at
Quebec. Often attacked by the Indians, suffering from severe weather conditions (cold
& snow), overland travel difficulties, loosing half the force along the way, the
expedition was unsuccessful! Very scarce & a nice copy of the best & most
accurate account of the American attack against Quebec. TPL 465;

imprimée & boîtier dorigine. Une édition luxueuse sur grand papier (blanked
folio). Les éditeurs inscrivent "Ce livre est la reproduction en fac-simile
dun volume imprimé à Paris à la fin du XVIe siècle, dont il ne reste plus que
quelques exemplaires. Loriginal présentait, dans sa composition et dans son tirage,
de notables défectuosités que lon ne sétonnera pas de retrouver
intégralement reproduites ici. Au volume original, les éditeurs ont ajouté un portrait
gravé de René de Laudonnière, et deux cartes de lépoque qui précisent les
limites et létat de la Floride au moment de sa colonisation française. Elles
éclaireront utilement le texte; le lecteur observera que la Floride, telle que le
concevait lauteur, débordait très sensiblement les frontières de lactuel
État de Floride, pour empiéter largement sur ceux, plus septentrionaux, de Georgie et de
